Today was the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in West Palm Beach. I missed it last year and had my questions as to whether I wanted to do it this year. I normally run it but with my torn meniscus, I would have to do the walk. That is a hard pill to swallow for me.

  The thought occurred to me this year that I hadn’t had a “real” vacation in 18 years. Yes, I have traveled but mostly to visit family, a trip to New Orleans on business and two drives to Florida from Texas, one moving and the other moving my sister here.

My last 2 classes were on grip, posture and swing. I must admit I learned a lot. I also wondered how I wasn’t told some of these things by the previous golf pros that I took lessons from. 
I guess each has their own techniques, but I like Jon. He takes things one step at a time and gives us drills.  When we do well, it builds our confidence.  I was thinking this morning, the problem with me and golf is that on my priority list it is down to about number 4 or 5.  This problem is pretty common with my personal training clients, exercise not topping the list, but that hasn’t been my problem in that regard.  With golf, I now realize it is the problem.

I just returned from a trip to Dallas last week. It was a combination fun and working trip I always appreciate the time I have with old friends, having lived there for 29 years before moving to Florida.

Some of my training clients over the years have used traveling as an excuse for missing their workouts. For me it is the opposite. That is why you haven’t seen many posts. I have been busy with work (thank goodness) but I have still managed my workouts and some fun diversions. 

One of those diversions was learning to Paddle Board. I have always watched people at the beach on their paddle boards and it looked fun. When I saw a class being offered, I signed up.

Health care that is. 

I am not normally a political person. I run the middle line for the most part, except for health care. I am very concerned about the direction we have allowed those we call our “public servants” to take us. 

As with most things, when you are personally affected, you pay a bit more attention.
